Low Cost, User-Friendly, Powerful
CALC4XL is ideal for companies new to Cost Engineering and Should Cost estimating. At AMSAB, we find it particularly effective in our Cost Reduction Programs and for negotiating with suppliers.
It has an Excel front end (add-in) and an Access back-end database.
Unlike other should cost software, CALC4XL provides and maintains a material price database containing common Ferrous, Non-Ferrous and Plastic materials.
400+ Country datasets including Footprint cost, Energy cost, Interest rates
1500+ Machine datasets including Name, Description, Investment, Installation cost, Footprint usage, Energy usage, Maintenance and Machine specific data e.g. Working area, Clamping force, Tonnage…
2,500+ Wage cost data including Direct wage, Employer‘s contribution. Unskilled, Skilled and Expert level rates are provided.
Built in Cycle time Cost models including Injection Moulding, Diecasting, Laser cutting / Welding, Machining....to name a few.
Every year new cost models are added free of charge.
Once the first estimate is created, alternative estimates can be created in a few minutes e.g. try changing locations to see the impact. Or try different volumes for sensitivity analysis purposes.
This cost breakdown style template is provided with the software.
But you can create your own template and link it your self to the databases and calculation models. This particular template is for a single component or a small assembly with 20 components.
It comes with a Super-BOM template for larger assemblies and you could estimate a whole vehicle cost using this template!
Set up the project parameters and select the part manufacturing location.
The location factors e.g. Shift patterns, Footprint cost, Electricity cost, Interest, several overhead % and profit % are pulled in from the back end database.
Use the drop down menu to select the material specification in the appropriate form and sourcing location. Various raw material usage calculators are provided e.g. Bar, Tube, Profiles, Sheets....
Use an appropriate cycle time cost model to generate cycle time via parametric selections. Note CALC4XL are continuously developing new cost models and issuing them annually FREE of charge (maintenance fee applies to other software).
Calculating machining time is one of the most difficult tasks for a cost engineer - CALC4XL provides one of the best machining cost model to simplify this task.
Use the drop down menu to select the appropriate machine and the specific machine data is pulled in from the database to generate the hourly rate for the machine. The user can amend any figure in a supplier negotiation to align with the supplier's data if required and the hourly rate is adjusted automatically.
Create profiles for you own machines using the simple menu.
Use the drop down menu to select Unskilled, Skilled or Expert level Direct Labor.
The calculation template is also the report to avoid transfer errors.
Remember you can create your own template and report!
